“Is It Good for the Student?”  Throughout my twenty-nine years as an educator in Lake County Schools, this question has always been in the forefront of my mind!

After finishing my tour as a United States Marine, my career as an educator began.  A graduate of Florida State University, I began my teaching career at Lee Adult Education Center in Leesburg, teaching students with disabilities.  My next stop was teaching physical education at Eustis Middle School for four years. The following twenty-one years I worked as a school administrator at numerous schools in Lake County. Three years ago, I reentered the classroom to teach at Lake Hills Elementary in Howey.

Now, as principal of ALHS, I am grateful to be part of a team that has each student’s best interest at heart. I promise to continue asking the question, “Is it Good for the Student?” I will fervently work with all staff in an inviting, structured, and safe educational setting that focuses on building foundational social and emotional skills for our students.  Within that setting and our instructional framework, our students will have multiple opportunities every day, in every class, to read, write, think, and talk through authentic literacy.
